Ultrasound is a noninvasive procedure using high-frequency sound waves producing images of the fetus, placenta and amniotic fluid during your pregnancy and assists in finding out about the growth and development of the fetus and monitors pregnancy stages. It can also be used to detect various other gynecological conditions such as fibroid tumors and to assess abdominal pain or other concerns.
